So, you hate your picture being taken? Why is that? Do you hate the process of dressing up the kids, hoping they behave, dragging them kicking and screaming to a loud store in the mall when a stranger immediately sits you down, tells you to look at the camera and “smile”? Maybe the kids are crying because the stranger is telling them if they are good they will get some candy so they sit stiffly, lights go off and you are ushered into a crowded room where you look at tiny pictures on the screen and all you can think of is that you wish you’d had time to lose ten pounds and get your hair done before, not to mention that the kids are now covered in sticky candy, are hyper and just want to go?
Doesn’t that sound like a great time to you? I have to agree.
The Dragon Hare experience is much different. Our studio is dedicated to photography, its quiet, we take our time getting to know you before any photographs are taken, we get down on the floor to play with your children so they are comfortable with us and we interact with you during your entire session so you forget about the camera. We are the parents of four busy children, we understand babies have to eat, 2 year olds have strong opinions, and 9 year olds have even bigger opinions on the way things should be done! I guarantee you will not hear us say “smile”, and I guarantee when you see your portraits, you will see the same beauty that we see in each of our clients.
How do we make you smile on your own without ordering “smile? Well, try this, look at the portrait below. There are 9 children, ages 4-10 with one 3 month old put in for good measure. We had about a 15 second window before somebody was going to get tired of having their portrait taken. So we got our portrait and then just for fun I told them to make silly faces. This portrait is my favorite one of the session. Why? Because it made me smile when I didn’t think I could!
These children are all 9 of my brother’s nieces and nephews. I took it the day after my brother’s funeral service. When I showed it to my family, we all smiled.

Click….there, caught you smiling! Call us and we’ll capture it on camera and make it last a lifetime!
