Sam

The neat thing about growing up in a small town, is the lifelong friends that you grow up with. To those that have never lived in a small town, the concept is foreign – 12-20 kids starting kindergarten and graduating high school together. The same core of kids, year after year, through life. These are lifelong friendships as you share a common history. They are the kinds of friends that you can not see to for ten years and then pick up right where you left off. It’s what I love about photographing grad classes. Grads come to me as individuals, but through each individual, I learn about the personality of each class.

I had several members of the Mannville Class of 2010 come in for their casual portraits that spoke about Sam. “Sam is a teddy bear”, “Sam is so super sweet”, “Sam never wears sleeves on his shirts”. When Sam came in, he lived up to all of the things his classmates said about him. He was very sweet, very respectful and I quite enjoyed getting to know him. Sam and his brothers have made a paintball range complete with towers and obstacles. I think that is a really cool thing that makes Sam unique so we took him out on a snowy day to capture his joy of paintball.

Thanks Sam for letting us “play”, we had a great time getting to know you! Best of luck to you in the coming months!
