Even though I graduated from Hallmark in June, I think I will always be a student of photography! One of the things I miss the most about Hallmark is hearing the speakers each week! I lived for Monday’s when two successful photographers would come to school and talk about their careers. I got to hear some major players in the world of photography speak! From the speaker series at Hallmark, I learned that I can always learn something from hearing a successful professional photographer speak and present his/her work. This is why I feel attending photography conferences is important to me and my studio, I can always improve, I can always learn!
This past week, I got the chance to attend a conference hosted by the Professional Photographers of Canada - Alberta, of which I am a member, in beautiful Canmore, Alberta. The speaker was Julie Hughes of Abbey of London Studios in Stuart, Florida. She presented great information and I got some wonderful tips on posing for maternity sessions. She also showed how she creates slideshows for her clients. I am very excited about this, gone will be the plain, boring slideshows I’ve used to present previous clients with their images, in its place will be beautiful slideshows that my clients will cherish for years to come!
